Ryder - 4 year old Husky/ Shepherd mix female. House trained, friendly with most other dogs and very pretty...being a Husky type we hope to find her a home with someone that knows and understand this breed. They can be tricky on you because they are so darn smart. If you are an active person, she is right up your alley. She also likes to chill and snuggle at the end of the day. super sweet
George - 2 year old 12" Beagle male. Shy but sweet, a little bit of a runner so a home with a fence is desired and maybe a dog friend to keep him company. He loves other dogs and all people.
Doctor (Doc) 1.5 year old Blue Tick Beagle male. great with other dogs, loves kids and is very friendly.
London is a 4 yr old Am. Staff mix female. She was one of 10 confiscated during an extreme abuse case. She has separation anxiety and does not do well with other pets. She is very loving to people and was just a victim of a bad owner.
Her favorite things include long walks through the woods, tasty chew toys, peanut butter kongs and soft chewy treats.
Jack Sparrow - 1 year old Chihuahua mix male. SUPER good with other dogs, NOT good with kids, Missing one eye, House trained, Loves to be carried.
Some dogs show us who they are right off the bat and some wait a couple weeks...lol
Beth (mighty mouse) is NOT good with other dogs. She can be in small doses but would definitely do better as the only dog in the home.
She is an English Bulldog/PitBull Terrier mix according to our vet. So she has two bully breeds in there and she is stubborn as heck (keeping it clean for this post). About 2 to 3 years old.
She weighs about 35 lbs and is VERY short.
She LOVES people and couches and beds and car rides and food...But no other dogs in the home.
If you are looking to have just one dog, she is perfect.
Hayes - 5 year old American Eskimoo male. Hayes weighs 21 lbs. I love this dog! He is perfectly house trained, NEVER has an accident. He does okay with other dogs as long as they are not crazy hyper in your face dogs. Hayes has one flaw and one flaw only and that is he is timid with hand motions. This only last for a short time but he absolutely cannot go home with any children at all! he would do best in a home with structure and routine's as he has a little OCD himself. Likes his bed kept neat, his fur kept clean and his food tidy in his bowl. lol
He is very affectionate with his humans...But again terrified of hand movements and quick approaching things like kids.
Apple is still waiting for her forever family (needs to be the only pet and no small children please). She is house trained, very laid back and loving. Would be awesome in a home with older kids (teenages).
- She LOVES people
- She's potty trained
- Is good in her crate while her humans are at work
- Total couch potato (most of the time), but is also down for an adventurous walk
- Walks pretty well on a leash
- Has the best pitty smile you've ever seen
- Is an independent lady, but also loves cuddling
- Always greets you with a wiggle
- Is the perfect client at the groomers and enjoys going (also calm and collected at the vet's office!)
- She needs to be the only pet to soak up all of the love and attention and no small children please.
We love her so much, and know she could make the right family so happy. If you're interested or know someone who is interested please fill out an application at hoperescues.com.
Meet our sweet little Alice in Wonderland girl.
She is approximately 7 years old and all Beagle.
She lives to sniff the yard and bug you for treats.
She is good with other dogs and all people.
She has flea dermatitis but is being treated and healing up well.
Butters - Chocolate Hound/Lab Mix Male, 51lbs, 1-2 years. Friendly with other dogs and likes all people.
Mocha is a 2 year old Chocolate lab mix female whose passion is dance...Yes, you read that right, she enjoys dancing. She dances for treats, for balls and for belly rubs. She gets along with some dogs but can annoy them with her dancing.
Gizmo - 1.5 yr old Bull Terrier Mix Male - Friendly, Energetic but can be dominating with other dogs. We do not have cats so we are unable to test him with them. He is a fun dog and would make a wonderful fur kid for most active families.
Simpson is super super sweet and friendly! He is a little shy at first so no small children but is so loving and friendly so very quickly. He is young at just 1 1/2 yr old. We believe he is a hound mix. He is tall but not very big and would be an awesome dog for just about any active family.
Ruby Roo is an 8 year old female Boxer. She is very active and loves to play fetch. She does not do well with other dogs or small animals so it is best that she be an only pet. She does have a special diet of Purina ONE Smartblend True Instict, canned pumpkin and yogurt with a morning Pepcid. Yes, she is spoiled.. :)
Ruby Roo's Sponsor is Beverly Tucker
Fin McCool - a 2 1/2 yr old male lab. He is very friendly, does well with female dogs, particularly ones that will chase him. He loves to retrieve tennis balls and also loves to play in the doggie pools. He around 65 pounds and is very strong
Alaska is a beautiful 4 year old Pitt/Husky mix. She is very active, good with other dogs, loves to play and would need an active family. She is a little shy and would do best in a home with no small children.
Buddy is a 6 year old American Bulldog male. He is very sweet, house trained and good with kids. Loves other dogs too. He is just a big dog who thinks he is still a lap puppy.
Buddy's Sponsor is Lindsay Frisby
Scruffy is a 6 year old Giant Schnauzer mix (we think). He is very active and loves the pool and tennis balls.. Because of his activity level, he annoys most dogs so he would do best as the only dog. He is very sweet and friendly too.
Arrow, a 5 year old German Shepherd male. He is a BIG boy but oh so gentle with people. He has lots of energy & needs to be reminded once in awhile to mind his manners but he tries very hard to be a good boy
(Arrow may not live in the city of Alton because his owners let him run at large and he killed a 4 lb Yorkie. We still do not know if he meant to as the dog had no bite marks but it is what it is)
He will need to be an only dog and he will only be allowed to go home with an experienced dog handler. He cannot ever be allowed to roam at large again.
Jack is a very sweet 7 year old Blue Heeler Mix. He has epileptic seizures, usually triggered by stress but are being well controlled with medication. He would do best in a home with no small children.
