Simpson is super super sweet and friendly 1 year old Male Hound Mix He is a little shy at first so no small children but is so loving and friendly so very quickly. He is tall but not very big and would be an awesome dog for just about any active family.
Tanner is a 5 1/2 month old male Hound/Pitt mix. He was found with a rope that had been tied around his neck and tied to a tree, and as he grew the rope became embedded into his neck. He will always have a scar from the ordeal but now he wears his scar as a medal and as a testament to others how dogs who are just tied up outside become forgotten and neglected. Tanner is an amazing dog who loves people and other dogs.
Cabbage is a 3 year old male Australian Shepherd mix. He is very friendly, does well with other dogs and is getting pretty good at walking on a leash.
Darby is a 2 year old male. His breeds has us a little stumped.. He is a very tall boy, could be Collie, could be Great Pyrenees... he is definitely one where a DNA test could be a fun discovery. He is extremely sweet, he likes to gently put his paws up over your shoulders like a Pyrenees, ( which makes for a good dancing partner) He is good with other dogs and would love to be someone's lap baby. He will take human attention over playing with dogs any day. He is very calm and walks well on a leash.
Louie is an 8 year old male beagle.. He is over weight.. so much so that Animal Control thought he was a girl. LOL He is extremely sweet, does well with other dogs, and will do anything for a treat..
Max is an 11 year old male lab. He lost his home when his elderly owners, whose health had declined, could no longer take care of him. He is very well mannered and will do just about anything for a treat.
Fin McCool - a 2 1/2 yr old male lab. He is very friendly, does well with female dogs, particularly ones that will chase him. He loves to retrieve tennis balls and also loves to play in the doggie pools. He around 65 pounds and is very strong
Roman - 2 year old (in July) male Shiba Inu. House trained, friendly, likes to have space to run so an active family would be preferred. Good dog
Buddy is a 6 year old American Bulldog male. He is very sweet, house trained and good with kids. Loves other dogs too. He is just a big dog who thinks he is still a lap puppy.

Scruffy is a 6 year old Giant Schnauzer mix (we think). He is very active and loves the pool and tennis balls.. Because of his activity level, he annoys most dogs so he would do best as the only dog. He is very sweet and friendly too.
Arrow, a 5 year old German Shepherd male. He is a BIG boy but oh so gentle with people. He has lots of energy & needs to be reminded once in awhile to mind his manners but he tries very hard to be a good boy
(Arrow may not live in the city of Alton because his owners let him run at large and he killed a 4 lb Yorkie. We still do not know if he meant to as the dog had no bite marks but it is what it is)
He will need to be an only dog and he will only be allowed to go home with an experienced dog handler. He cannot ever be allowed to roam at large again.
Rosco - 8 mos old Black Lab mix male. Has never met a stranger, loves everyone. Great with other dogs and chidlren too.
Meet Drake, a 9 year old Beagle mix male who was adopted from us 8 years ago and brought back recently.
He needs a fenced yard for he does not know how to "stay" in an unfenced yard.
He is great with other dogs, healthy, house trained and extremely sweet.
Please someone open up your heart to him...He deserves a home
Mo - 8 year old Lab mix male. VERY nice boy who gets along with everyone. House trained and crate trained.
Tucker - 5 year old Plotthound mix male. Super chill and very sweet. House trained, crate trained and well mannered.
Pizzaro is such a good boy! He's definitely a cuddler, loves peanut butter kongs, and does great in his kennel at night and while we are at work! If you're looking for a young furkid who loves people and dogs, Pizzaro may be your guy! Plus, look at those ears!
Clark Kent - 7 yr old Bichon Frise Mix - Clark is very sweet but does not like his head touch.. at least at first when he doesn't know you. The vet feels that Clark had an injury to his penis that required surgery. He pees fine but the tip of his penis does not retract in and needs a little KY each day. He does have a cataract and may not see as well as in his young days. He is very loving and just wants a home that will love him.
